Sea Food

The Ocean Basket is a South African sea food franchise that's opened recently in Kenya. It was my first time at a sea food restaurant without the crew, I know Dj Kookz will kill me but he'll be happy with my review, it was just me and my lovely pigsney Laura Mutonyi and at the restaurant located at the Oval in Westlands.
The restaurant was beautiful, with a white and blue decor setting. We sat outside on the last table, as we were warmly welcomed, the service was top notch that had to be said.

We were offered our menus, though we already knew what we had planned to eat but we didn't mind going through it. We were forced to buy starters and drinks which was disappointing as compared to Fogo Gaucho and Pampa where the starters are freely offered.

Our waitress amazed us with her powerful use of her tongue in pronouncing some of words, it sounded like she was speaking piglatin we just couldn't understand, when she was done speaking, she looked at Laura then looked at me, I smiled back and I was like"ummm sijaelewa anything, please rudia ". Then we heard that meru accent she was hiding, as she explained everything in swa, that whole moment took 6 minutes I wasn't timing but I'm sure it did. We finally ordered the platter for two that contained 6 mussels, 12 prince prawns, rice,  chips,  grilled calamari and calamari heads. Our meal came within minutes.

The mussels for those that don't know are those shells that have something in it and you have to suck it out, yeah that thing.
It's actually quite nice but much better when you squeeze alil bit of lime in it.
The calamari was the best of all, well fried and tasty and the calamari heads were just a delight.
The prawnsssss!! not that I'm excited saying it but I have to admit something that may sound quite weird. In Uganda fried grasshoppers are a delicacy and if your wondering how shrimps taste with the skin, their exactly like grasshoppers only that there is more to eat when it comes to shrimps,
I shit you not, that's the plain truth.

But all in all it was a great night, disappointed that the free starters offered was bread with butter only but besides that it was okay, service was good,  staff were good too it was great not better than Fogo Gaucho or Pampa restaurant but it's all Good, can't wait for the next adventure.
